Hi, I’m Baseball Betsy, a fan of Phillies’ baseball at all levels. There’s a lot to enjoy out there if you know where to look. This is my blog to getting the best out of the experience.
I wasn’t always a fan of baseball. As a kid, I wanted to grow up and be a hockey player, but my father told me, “girls don’t play hockey, they figure skate.” So that’s what I did. When I got to college, my dad reversed his thoughts and I played non-contact hockey on his team for a season.
A few years later I met Baseball Ross (Baseball Ross). He had season tickets to the local AA baseball team, the Harrisburg Senators. Like a good girlfriend, I went along. At first, I HATED it. I didn’t really understand it and moreover, it was too slow. After about half a season of watching I started to get it, the nuances, the strategy, watching these young players start to develop. I learned to keep score and little by little, I fell in love.
Now, I’m almost an avid a fan as Ross. I even get up with him in the middle of the night to watch Australian baseball in the winter. It takes a die-hard fan to get up at say, 3 a.m. or 5 a.m. to watch the internet broadcasts.
We live about 3 miles from Brighthouse Field where the Phillies Spring Train as well as where the Clearwater Threshers and Gulf Coast Phillies play. There are almost a dozen teams with in a half hour or forty-five minute drive from here, I think we’re in baseball heaven.
I love to see players that we started watching in the lower levels like, Williamsport, Lakewood, Clearwater, Lehigh Valley or Reading make it to the “Big Show”. It is so amazing to see them grow and prosper.
This blog is about that as well as the experiences we have at the different parks. From the between innings/after game activities to the food and overall experience of the game. If you want a site that’s all stats and facts, it’s not this one.
I have a website Baseball Betsy that has more information.
I hope you like what I have to say, but if you have comments, you can comment on the posts or you can email me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
