It was disheartening to see the Reading Phillies lose their first game of the play-offs. Some teams, some players would have all the wind go out of their sails. Some teams, some players would lay down and die. Not this team, not Mr. Clutch A.K.A. Derrick Mitchell.
When you watch, listen to and study baseball as much as Ross and I do, you start to see some patterns. It really seems that when the going gets tough, Mr. Clutch gets hitting.
Need a guy to hit with players in scoring position? Then Mr. Clutch is your guy.
Last night, Mr. Clutch was a one man wrecking crew. He started off coming up to the plate in the top of the third with the bases loaded. Mitchell hit the ball to left field and he made it a triple, driving in all three of the men on base! A TRIPLE with three RBIs! By the end of the inning, the entire line up had a chance to bat and the R-Phils were up 6-0…It was all down hill from there for New Hampshire.
J.C Ramirez had a no-hitter going into the bottom of the sixth when he gave up a double.
In the seventh, Mitchell came up again with men on base and drove in two more runs, a total of FIVE RBIs in the game.
By the time it was all over, the R-Phils pummeled the Fishercats 11-2.
Ross and I will be in Baseballtown tonight and tomorrow…We can’t wait!
